A NON-GOVERNMENTAL organisation (NGO) has bemoaned the low utilisation of information communication and technology (ICT) in Zambia’s health centres. Ebrain is a national forum bringing together stakeholders from across the country who are interested in ICT4D in Zambia. It operates under the following structure: CHAPTERSCurrently ebrain chapters have been established in the following regions: Lusaka Province
Copperbelt Province The Copperbelt Chapter was established in early 2003 and has carried out a number of activities since its establishment. However, the chapter has not been as active as the Lusaka chapter due to resource constraints. Southern ProvinceThe Southern Chapter was established in 2004 by interested stakeholders based in the southern province of Zambia. It is headed by Mrs. Rosemary Muyangwa from the Ministry of Education. In the recent past, the Southern Chapter has not been very active and this has been a source of concern to the National Management Team. Central Province MANAGEMENT TEAMThe Management Team comprises of seven elected officials and chapter chairpersons who will serve for a two-year term of office. Functions of the Management Committee are:
SECRETARIATThe ebrain secretariat is currently headed by a Coordinator rather than a Director as provided for in the constitution. The Coordinator is assisted by the Assistant Coordinator who is responsible for office administration and financial records. MEMBERSEbrain is a member based not-for-profit organisation. It brings together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds interested in advancing ICT4D inZambia. It has several membership classes as follows:
