JULY MONTHLY MEETING
The July monthly meeting was held on the 26th of July at the Residents Development Committee offices in Ngombe compound. Ngombe compound is situated about 5km to the east of the Lusaka central business district and has a population of over 96,000 people.
Despite the close proximity of the compound to the CBD and the lush suburbs of Kalundu and Roma, it has no piped water, no landbased telephone lines and no tarred roads. It is a typical rural setting right in the centre of the capital city. However the Residents Development Committee in Ngombe has been rated as the best residents committee in the whole of Lusaka.
The Ngombe meeting was organised together with the Residents committee which mobilised the local CBOs and FBOs with a stake in health care service delivery in the community. The meeting was very well attended with participation from Research organisations, University Teaching Hospital and the press.
Mr. Dean Mulozi a rural connectivity expert and lead person on the ebrain-rural access thematic group made a very interesting presentation which motivated the audience to participate and interact actively.
